Flash on android, good? think again..

Okay, after two videos above, I definitely am not going to install flash on froyo. I'm a bit disappointed with the result, but I think this is also for the best, I don't like to not being able to view the flash content when I browse, but I think I prefer that than to have a laggy display. Smooth scrolling is a must!
Yes froyo's browser is faster than other browser, but I still prefer the performance once the page has been loaded, I definitely want a pay off for the time I invested for that page to load.

Randy Pausch Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch (Oct. 23, 1960 - July 25, 2008) gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving presentation, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals.

when you screwing up, and nobody saying anything to you anymore, that means they gave up; when you see yourself doing something badly and nobody bother to tell you anymore, that's a very bad place to be; their critics is one way telling you their love and care;

the brick walls are there for a reason;
the brick walls are not there to keep us out;
the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something;
because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough;
the brick walls are there to stop 'other' people;

"Dutch Uncle": One who reproves in a blunt, stern manner intended for the benefit of the recipient
a term for a person who issues frank, harsh, and severe comments and criticism to educate, encourage, or admonish someone.

it's such a shame that people perceive u as so 'arrogant',
because it's going to limit what you are going to be able to accomplish in life;
a good way to word, you're being a jerk, he does not say you're a jerk,
he just says people perceive you this way,
and the downside is that it is going to limit what you are going to be able to accomplish in life.

I don't know how to not have fun;
I'm dying and I'm having fun;
and I'm going to keep having fun, everyday I have left;
cos there's no other way to play it;

it took me a long time but I finally figure it out,
when it comes to men that are romantically interested to you;
it's very simple, just ignore everything they say and only pay attention to what they do.

"I WILL FIX THIS"

Points:
1. Get a feedback loop and LISTEN to it.
2. Show gratitude.
3. Don't complain, just work harder.
4. Be good at something; it makes you valuable
5. Work hard!
6. Find the best in everybody
7. Be prepared: "luck" is where preparation meets opportunity.

"Head Fake" -> indirect learning
- best way to teach somebody something is to make they think they are learning something else.
- it's not about how to achieve your dreams, it's about how to lead your life, if you live your life good enough, the dreams will come to you.
- the talk is not for you, it's for my kids.

Rocky Balboa / Father & Son

Rocky Balboa:
You aint gonna believe this, but you used to fit right here. I'd hold you up to say to your mother, "this kid is gonna be the best kid in the world. This kid is gonna be somebody better than anybody I ever knew." And you grew up good and wonderful. It was great just watching you, every day was like a privilege.

Then the time come for you to be your own man and take on the world, and you did. But somewhere along the line, you changed. You stopped being you. You let people stick a finger in your face and tell you youre no good. And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame, like a big shadow.

Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. Its a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. Its about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. Thats how winning is done!

Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you aint where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that aint you! Youre better than that!

I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You're my son and you're my blood. You're the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain't gonna have a life.

Don't forget to visit your mother.

Asshole Driven Development

taken from: http://www.scottberkun.com/blog/2007/asshole-driven-development

The software industry might be the world’s greatest breeding ground for new systems of management. From Agile, to Extreme Programming , to Test Driven Development (TDD), the acronyms and frameworks keep piling up. Why?
Some say it’s immaturity: that software is still a young industry and all the change is the path to some true fundamentals. Others say it’s because software people like making things up and can’t help themselves. Well I say this: if we’re going to have dozens of models we may as well have some that are honest, however cynical, to what’s really going on much of the time.
(There is a happy list of these I’m sure, but this is the cynical one).
Asshole Driven development (ADD) – Any team where the biggest jerk makes all the big decisions is asshole driven development. All wisdom, logic or process goes out the window when Mr. Asshole is in the room, doing whatever idiotic, selfish thing he thinks is best. There may rules and processes, but Mr. A breaks them and people follow anyway.

Cognitive Dissonance development (CDD)
 – In any organization where there are two or more divergent beliefs on how software should be made. The tension between those beliefs, as it’s fought out in various meetings and individual decisions by players on both sides, defines the project more than any individual belief itself.
Cover Your Ass Engineering (CYAE) – The driving force behind most individual efforts is to make sure than when the shit hits the fan, they are not to blame.
Development By Denial (DBD) - Everybody pretends there is a method for what’s being done, and that things are going ok, when in reality, things are a mess and the process is on the floor. The worse things get, the more people depend on their denial of what’s really happening, or their isolation in their own small part of the project, to survive.
Get Me Promoted Methodology (GMPM) - People write code and design things to increase their visibility, satisfy their boss’s whims, and accelerate their path to a raise or the corner office no matter how far outside of stated goals their efforts go. This includes allowing disasters to happen so people can be heroes, writing hacks that look great in the short term but crumble after the individual has moved on, and focusing more on the surface of work than its value.
I’m sure you’ve seen other unspoken methods at work – what are they?

web developer freebies

http://kuler.adobe.com/#themes/rating?time=30

http://code.google.com/webfonts/

Both link above are a good freebies for web developers, one is a site where people actually paste in their color palette combination, and people can rate them, so, when you are a bit undecided in terms of color, you can always look for reference there.

The second one is a free font for your website, hosted on Google Server, provided under an open source license. If you wonder on how to utilize custom font for your website, you can take a look at a code snippet bellow:

<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Tangerine|Droid+Sans' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' />
<style>
 .titleTangerine{
  font-family: 'Tangerine', serif;
  font-size: 48px;
 }
 .droid{
  font-family: 'Droid+Sans',sans;
 }
.textshadow{
 text-shadow: 4px 4px 4px #aaa;
}
</style>

PIXLR - free online photo editor

Absolutely Brilliant!
This is a free online photo editor, I've just tried and edit an image using it, and it's amazing!
So far, it's the best online photo editing that I've come across. Try it yourself, and you'll be amazed on what it capable of. There's two mode, Pixlr Editor and Pixlr Express.

If you just need a quick fix or a quick effects, then you can use Pixlr Express, it provides some basic functions like auto balance, blur, sharpen, red eye removal, and more. Try it now!
But if you need a more advance functions, then you can use Pixlr Editor.

Oo, it's using Flash by the way, (in case you are following the Apple-Adobe war lately) (:
Enough said, if you haven't open the link until now, then enjoy some of the image that I've quickly edit using Pixlr, and fell free to download and spread the wallpaper.
Cheers!
